As per the latest Bollywood news, the upcoming Bollywood entertainer Yaariyan 2 makers gets two FIRs for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.
Upcoming Hindi Drama Yaariyan 2 is topping the charts of the Bollywood News for the wrong reasons. The official teaser of the movie launched on 10th August 2023 on T-series’s official YouTube channel. In that teaser, Meezaan Jafri’s 3-D poster shows him holding an open kirpan ( Sword ) upside down. But he also flaunts a haircut and clean-shaven look in that pose. This look of the artist clearly contradicts Sikhism.
The sword ( known as Kirpan) is one of the five Kakaars of an Amritdari sikh. However, the makers misrepresented Kakaar and hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. As per the latest reports Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee ( SGPC) registered a complaint against the maker of the movie and also the owner of the T-Series company Bhushan Kumar.
Further, it also carries the name of the directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru along with actor Meezaan Zafri. As per the deeds of the complaint, an FIR has been registered against all of them under section 295-A IPC. The SGPC team is demanding a thorough investigation of the video strict action against the team and removal of video from all the available platforms worldwide.
Additionally, as per the latest news, another group from the same community named Sikh Tamail Committee ( STC ) have also raised similar concerns and registered an FIR against the team of Yaarnian 2. The complaint of the SGPC team was registered in the E division Police Station Amritsar. As per Sikh maryada, an Amritdhari Sikh must carry all five Kakaars on the body. And hairs are on the list.
This means a Sikh carrying a sword cannot cut his hair or shave his beard. But Meezaan carries a sword with a haircut and shaven look. Hence, the legal action was the need of the hour. And, the project is making the rounds in the B-town news for erroneous reasons.
In the past, the Sikh community have been very particular and never allowed anybody to use their history or rituals for entertainment purposes. Many times, the Sikh community openly stopped such projects and made the news headlines reminding makers to avoid their history.

Moreover, if one wants to tell a story on Sikhism, no human can act as any of the ten Gurus or historical Martyrs. Only authentic and right information can be delivered. Also, only animated visuals can be used to guide the audience. Even the use of Gurbani words is not allowed unless permitted. It does not matter if you are a born Sikh, baptised Amritdhari Sikh or converted from another religion. Nobody can act as any Spiritual guide from the religious history of this community.
Many movies were stopped in the past as they wanted to throw some light on the evolution of Sikhism. But they were either stopped in between or not allowed to get a release. In the future as well, if any maker or producer wants to make a film related to Sikhism. He can only start with the permissions of SGPC authorities. Panj Pyaras or Head Granthi from Golden Temple Amritsar can only guide a person to work on such a sensitive project.
Where the Sikh Community have kept a reserved approach, most of the other communities allow actors and artists to play the roles of their religious heads. Sometimes, audiences like the work of the teams and at other times they get criticized like Adipurush. However, the makers and directors must be very cautious while handling history. If the community objects, they will have to bear the financial consequences.
We hope that the Yaariyan 2 team will understand the point here and make the desirable changes to sort out the matter.
