Kangana Ranaut Sparks Controversy by Calling Kolkata Rape Protests a “Circus,” While Bollywood Unites for Justice
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut once again raise her contradictory voice leaving derogatory remarks about ongoing protests.
India is in mourning and outrage after the brutal rape and murder of a young doctor in Kolkata, a crime that has shaken the nation to its core. Across the country, people are coming together, protesting on the streets, and demanding justice for the victim. Social media is flooded with messages of support from Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and many others who are calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

However, in the midst of this outpouring of grief and anger, Kangana Ranaut has sparked controversy with her recent comments. In an Instagram story, Kangana criticized the ongoing protests, taking aim at West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. She wrote, “Never in my life have I seen a dumb circus like this. Mamata Banerjee is protesting against herself. Shame on people who vote for her. She says Bengal is not India, and when it comes to accountability, she wants Modi ji to be held responsible for crimes happening in Bengal. Bengal has become a crime gutter, and she doesn’t even attend CM meetings with Modi ji. What a coward. Mamata Banerjee, you are not a leader, you are a sham.”

These comments have not gone down well with many people, who feel that Kangana’s remarks are out of touch with the pain and anger being felt across the country. While so many are standing up and demanding justice, Kangana’s words have come across as dismissive and insensitive.
In contrast, the rest of Bollywood has shown a united front, joining the public in their call for justice. The crime has led many to reflect on the safety of women in India, with some even questioning the significance of celebrating Independence Day when such atrocities continue to happen.
Kangana is known for being outspoken, but this time her comments seem to have alienated her from a cause that is deeply important to so many. Even in Kangana’s hometown of Mandi, where she has been elected by the people, there is a growing sense that she may not truly represent the values and concerns of those who supported her.

As the country continues to demand justice, Kangana’s remarks have only added to the controversy, making it clear that her views are out of step with the feelings of the nation. While others stand in solidarity with the victim and the call for accountability, her words have struck a jarring note, leaving many questioning her empathy and understanding.
