Diljit Dosanjh Challenges Government Notice on Alcohol Songs During His ‘Dil-Luminati Tour’

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh is once again making headlines, but this time not just for his electrifying performances during his Dil-Luminati Tour. The singer-actor recently found himself embroiled in controversy after the Telangana government issued a notice prohibiting him from performing songs that promote alcohol during his Hyderabad concert on November 15, 2024.

The Telangana Government imposed strict restrictions on Diljit Dosanjh upcoming Hyderabad Concert

The notice, which sparked debate, demanded that singers avoid any alcohol-related content during their events. However, Diljit did not hold back in responding to the government’s diktat. In a bold statement during his Gujarat concert, a dry state, a video of which has now gone viral, the singer took a direct dig at the restrictions.

Diljit’s Fiery Response: ‘Declare Amritsar a Dry City!’

Speaking to the crowd in Gujarat, Diljit remarked:

“The good news is that I have not received any notice today. The even better news? I won’t be singing a song about alcohol tonight. Want to know why? Because Gujarat is a dry state.”

Taking the issue further, the singer openly called for Sri Amritsar Sahib to be declared a dry city like Gujarat. Diljit also questioned the role of alcohol as a major source of income for governments, citing the irony of liquor sales during the pandemic.

“During the corona period, everything was closed except for liquor stores. Does this not show where priorities lie?” he said, addressing the youth directly and challenging them not to be fooled by such policies. Diljit even suggested taking an oath and asked the state governments if such reforms could realistically be implemented.

A Bold Stand During His Blockbuster Tour

The Dil-Luminati Tour has been making waves, with Diljit performing to sold-out crowds across multiple states. From Jaipur last month to Hyderabad and Gujarat, the tour has been nothing short of a spectacle. However, his recent remarks have added a layer of controversy to the already sensational tour.
