Allegedly, the local police acted against Singh under Section 188 and took him into custody, asserting charges related to violating regulations. Singh claims he endured alleged maltreatment, including third-degree torture during his detention, blaming SHO Ajaib Singh for targeting him due to Sharma’s visit.
In contrast, SHO Ajaib Singh defended the police action, citing complaints from nearby residents regarding Singh’s eatery operations. The complaints revolved around Singh allegedly serving parathas until 2 AM, leading to considerable waste generation in the vicinity. The SHO clarified that prior warnings were issued to Singh before legal measures were taken.
This incident has sparked debate and criticism regarding the police’s actions. While acknowledging concerns about waste generation and adherence to regulations, many advocates for reconsidering the severity of the FIR and the treatment meted out to Singh, emphasizing the need to allow him to earn a livelihood for his family.
