The incident dates back to the 2010 Filmfare Awards. Saif Ali Khan and Shahrukh Khan turned hosts for the show. And they tried their level best to make the night most entertaining for their viewers. They both kept involving other celebrities in their conversation to keep the show going. It all went dirty when they took a jibe at Neil Nitin Mukesh.
The conversation between Shahrukh Khan and Neil Nitin Mukesh started when all of a sudden the Don actor asked a question to the Players actor in front of the audience. The Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham actor asked him,” Neil Nitin Mukesh……You have three names and no surname. Why? Neil gave a blank reaction giving gestures like what?
Saif Ali Khan also joined him to continue to take a jibe at the Saaho actor. Shahrukh and Saif again explained to him that everybody uses a surname like they have Khan and others use their family names as their surnames. But he is using three first names and no surname.
Neil Nitin Mukesh gave a rude reply
Finally, Neil broke his silence and replied that he does not like these questions hosts ask to grab the audience’s attention and entertain them. And he ended up asking them both to Shut Up for their ruthless questions. Before stating this he also pointed out towards his father and reminded them that his father as well accompanied him to the event. Neil took it as an insult to himself.
It was an embarrassing moment for all of them. Because all they wanted was to ask him why he used such a long and different name. And he could have always cleared their doubt. But definitely, he found himself in an embarrassing state of mind as the question was asked in a hilarious manner and there was a round of laughter after that.
Reality behind three names
For those unaware, Neil uses this long name to carry his father and grandfather’s name. It is a family legacy he continues as his father carried the name the same way. His surname is Mathur. He is the son of Bollywood singer Nitin Mukesh. Instead of just carrying his father’s name as his dad. He took the legacy a step further and added his father’s and grandfather’s names to his name.
Many celebrities have come forward and called these functions preplanned dramas. They even say that the awards are given only to the actors according to their contribution and not the deserving ones. Hence, it may be a preplanned reaction to keep the interest of the audience. But Neil gave an epic and natural reaction leaving no chance of doubt.
After that, neither Neil Nitin Mukesh nor the Jawan actor discussed it in the media. On the work front, they have never shared a screen space together. Hence if there was a rift it probably settled there in no time. We hope to see them together in future.
