Karishma Kapoor gets Nostalgic about her career with struggles and challenges compared to the ones of today’s era in the latest Bollywood news.
Bollywood topmost actress of the ’90s and the daughter of the Kapoor family, Karishma Kapoor opens her heart in a recent chat show. She discussed her struggles while she aspired to become an artist in filmography. In her recent appearance, she shared her views and compared them to today’s scenario as well.
The Dil To Pagal Hai actress was just 16 years old when she made her debut with Prem Qaidi. She got noticed from her first movie and then there was never a look back. Not only that she entered at a very young age giving a skip to the compulsory education. She also belonged to the conservative and reserved Kapoor family of the industry.
She broke all the norms and bad practices of the Kapoors and turned out to be the first female Kapoor to enter the world of Showbiz. It was already a win in her own world. But as the actress states the world is attractive from outside. Rather from the inside it is full of struggles and hard work every artist has to go through beyond family background.
The Saajan Chale Sasuraal actress opened up that she had many sleepless nights with tears from all the criticism she had to face after hard work. When she danced on Sexy Sexy Sexy Mujhe log Bolen, a lot was written about her. Everybody went after the words but nobody bothered to appreciate her potential.
She even said that in today’s era, the sexy word is used in the industry at the drop of a hat. But she had to face extreme criticism for dancing on such words. Today, short dresses are in trend but her times were different. She had to face bad words for wearing such clothes in the industry.
For the unaware Karishma Kapoor is the eldest daughter of the Kapoor family, better known as the first family of Bollywood. Her father and the rest of the male members from the ancestry were against the idea of women working in the film industry. She not only financially supported her mother and sister but also paved the way for the female Kapoor to the world of showbiz.
Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt didn’t have to struggle and fight for their rights as the eldest Karishma opened doors for them. In her career span that lasted only a decade or so, she managed to be on the top of the game. A list of her superhit flicks includes Saajan Chale Sasural, Jeet, Raja Hindustani, Dil to Pagal Hai and many more. In 2000 her younger sister debuted opposite another aspiring debutant Abhishek Bachchan in Refugee.
And finally, after her sister replaced her in the financial bindings of the family. She married a Delhi-based businessman Sanjay Kapoor and settled to settle in life. But the Zubeidaa actress had to face struggle. And she ended up divorcing her estranged husband after many unsuccessful attempts to make her marriage work. The couple was blessed with two kids in this relationship.
We appreciate the hard work of the Biwi No 1 actress and believe that her struggle was a part of the crucial growth phase of Hindi cinema. She had to face many challenges while she kept growing. For example, there were no vanity van services, and no privacy for the main leads. Moreover, restrooms and changing rooms as well were not available. Makeup was open.
Now the main leads are provided with privacy in their own comfort. They just come out of the vanity to shoot their parts. In her time, actresses participated to present the love life of the main leads and that’s it. They had no struggles to show, no win-over, no challenges. But now we see feminist movies getting success on the ticket window.
Marriage used to be a hole on the boat of a female artist and motherhood meant retirement from work. But now female actresses are embracing motherhood in photoshoots and resuming work post-birth. It is slow and steady, but change is there.
Hence, the Mentalhood actress actively participated to push the change in the industry of entertainment. Now Indian artists are equally competitive on international red carpets. They present their country with pride. And all the appreciation goes to artists from the 90s who had to work hard and fight for this change.
Also, the history of entertainment witnessed the acting skills of the Judwaa actress. Which are smooth and seem effortless Hence We strongly believe that the Haseena Maan Jayegi actress can make a comeback in the industry any day she wants to.
