Vinesh Phogat faces disqualification for 100gms overweight in 50kg wrestling finals

In a heartbreaking news, wrestler Vinesh Phogat have been disqualified from her participation in 50 Kg women wrestling finals. As per the reports it was just a 100 grams and the team worked whole night to shed this extra weight to enter the Gold medalfinals.

But as per the rules laid down in international Olympics wrestler Vinesh Phogat disqualified for mere 100 grams.

The Indian Olympic Association also issued an official statement declaring disqualification of Vinesh Phogat and seeking support. It stated, ‘It is with regret that the Indian contingent shares news of the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Women’s Wrestling 50kg class. Despite the best efforts by the team through the night, she weighed in a few grams over 50kg this morning. No further comments will be made by the contingent at this time. The Indian team requests you respect Vinesh’s privacy. It would like to focus on the competitions on hand’

Famous Bollywood actress Hema Malini as well expressed regrets links to the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat stressing out on importance of being in proper weight. She stated, “It is very surprising, and it feels strange that she was disqualified for being 100 gm overweight. It is important to keep the weight in check. It is a lesson for all of us. I wish she could lose that 100 gm quickly, but she would not get an opportunity”.

For those unaware, Vinesh Phogat is the first Indian women to achieve multiple medals for the country in Olympics and Commonwealth games bringing pride back home. She aspired to bring gold medal in 50kg women wrestling but got disqualified for being overweight by 100 grams.

As per the close reports Vinesh Phogat went through a rigorous regime to shed the extra weight. She kept herself starving for food and water and also cut her hair short. A continuous sleepless workout routine as well couldn’t help. Even after extreme dehydration and starvation an extra 100 grams made her disqualify in the competition.

India eyed on a Gold Medal this year from Vinesh Phogat and is taken aback with her disqualification. But the nation comes out together lending her support through social media still feeling proud of her efforts.

Let’s hope that Vinesh Phogat returns back as a more fierce, strong and in weight wrestler in the next competition.
