Pushpa 2 Producers Questioned and cheque paid: Is ₹50 Lakh Enough for Stampede Victim’s Family?
A tragic stampede during the December 4 premiere of “Pushpa 2: The Rule” at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre has put the film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, in the spotlight. The incident led to the death of a woman named Revathi and left her eight-year-old son, Sri Teja, badly injured. On December 23, producer Naveen Yerneni visited the hospital where Sri Teja is being treated and gave a ₹50 lakh cheque to Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar, to help the family financially.
This help is initiated after an attack was attempted on Pushpa 2’s main lead actor Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad Residence shaking the makers.
While this payment was meant to support the grieving family, many are questioning if it is enough to cover the long-term costs and loss the family faces. Critics feel that the producers of Pushpa 2should be held accountable for the tragedy and argue that better crowd management could have prevented the stampede.
Pushpa’s lead actor, Allu Arjun, also faced legal trouble and was arrested on December 13 because of the incident. He received interim bail the same day, but the situation has added tension around the film’s release and raised questions about the responsibilities of everyone involved in its production.
But the sale of the entertainer Pushpa 2 remained unaffected and kept winning audience love with full houses all over.
This incident highlights the need for better safety measures at large public events and calls on the film industry to prioritize the audience’s safety above all else.
