Punjabi movie Junior Starcast, launch date, budget and financial output
Junior is a North Indian revenge-based drama of a one-man who ends up destroying many big names after being a victim of their foul play. Amiek Virk plays the main lead in the story. And Srishti Jain, the famous Television celebrity is cast to act as his onscreen wife. The Main story of the film resembles a lot with Ek Villian. Here, the only child of the actor dies out in circumstances and his wife pursues him to get revenge on the culprit. And he seems as fierce and unstoppable as a Bollywood Hero.
Apart from the main leads other supporting cast in the flick include Kabir Bedi, Yograaj Singh, Pradeep Singh Rana, Ajay Sethi, Karan Gaba, Ram Aujla and Rony Singh. Jasleen Rana played the important role of the daughter who dies leaving her parents devastated and on a mission of her death revenge.
Kabir Bedi carries the image of a rich businessman responsible for generating a corrupt and wrong environment for his monetary interest. Yograaj Singh sounds like a senior police official in the story. Harman Dhillon and Jaspal Sandhu are the joint directors of this retaliation drama.
Again Ameik Virk is the producer of the flick. And the film was made under his production company named Nadar Films. His production house is known for producing some very good projects including Sardarji and Bambukat. This time he takes the seat of the main lead to win the audience.
The trailer of the movie was launched on Nadar Films Youtube channel on 4 August 2023. And it reached a view count of 7.5 million within a timeframe of 2 weeks. The trailer is designed enough strongly to seek the audience’s attention. Once started it is not easy to stop in between and leave the page. In short, it carries audience-engaging strength.
Further, Amiek is completely in the character. He is carrying the role effortlessly and with full devotion. You feel like want to listen to his story. Direction and action are as apt as required. Moreover, Srishti Jain is a known name in the television industry. But with Junior, she marks her debut in Pollywood as well. Her role is short but carries a weightage in the story.
Ameik Virk carries maximum onscreen exposure as demanded by the script. Most of the shootings happened in India. But some shootings were carried on an international spot. That increases the financial burden on the project. But the main producer launched the trailer on his youtube channel and it received the required exposure. Altogether, Junior is a typical revenge entertainer made on a budget somewhere below 5 crores.
Gradually, the Pollywood industry is successfully chasing other regional industries in terms of good work and real entertainment. Compared to Bollywood and South, North Indian films are new. Hence the quality of acting was compromised and only limited to the singers. Today as well industry lacks a good number of artists who are not singers by profession.
But from the last few years, Punjabis have surprisingly accepted some outsiders as actors and some singers have improved their acting skills enough to get that audience’s attention. Carry On Jatta 3 recently entered a 100-crore club making new records in the history of Punjabi cinema. Now the story and script writers are thinking beyond comedy.
Junior as well comes with a story that can connect the audience emotionally and psychologically. This kind of revenge drama is happening in Pollywood for the first time. The action and the on-screen atmosphere seem up to the mark in the trailer. It has a story, Drama, Action, Police, Sacrifice and fight. In all, it is a complete entertainer with a good backup team.
For the unversed, Junior is all set to hit the big screens from 18 August 2023 worldwide. The upcoming week marks the start of the festivities in India with Rakhi. Hence, if the film will engage well with the audience for the first week then there is a likelihood of footfall for the second week as well. Further, the movie will have some tough competition from Gadar 2: The Katha Continues. As it was just released last week. And the audience is going gala over the launch.
Hence, the trend of Gadar 2 will affect the initial footfall of the audience. But the view count and comments on the youtube channel give positive signs.
We wish the team of Junior all the best and rate it with 3.5 stars. It is an action drama worth watching on big screens.
