Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Cancer Diet Cleared by Court Amid cancer treatment Misleading Allegations
Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Congress leader and former cricketer, recently faced legal trouble over his claims that diet plans helped his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, recover from stage 4 breast cancer. A lawsuit was filed against him, accusing him of misleading people with unverified information. However, on Wednesday, the Delhi High Court dismissed the petition, defending Sidhu’s right to share his personal experiences.
Navjot Singh Sidhu’s statements had sparked outrage, with critics arguing that his remarks could give false hope to cancer patients. The petition claimed his views lacked scientific backing and could mislead netizens. But a bench led by Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao stated, “If you don’t agree with Sidhu’s views, you are free to present your counterclaims. Freedom of speech cannot be curtailed based on disagreements.”
This isn’t the first time Navjot Singh Sidhu’s comments have stirred controversy. In the past, he faced a high-profile lawsuit worth crores for allegedly making misleading public statements. While his supporters see his remarks as an attempt to inspire, others argue that public figures must be careful with health-related claims.
The court’s decision comes as a relief for Navjot Singh Sidhu, with the judges adding that individuals have the right to choose what they believe. They further stated, “If the petitioner doesn’t agree, they can choose to ignore Navjot Singh Sidhu’s statements. Nobody is forcing them to follow his advice.”
With the case now dismissed, Navjot Singh Sidhu continues to be a polarizing figure, raising questions about the balance between freedom of speech and responsibility in public statements.
