Film Review: Love Sitara โ A Family Drama with Twists and Complications
Love Sitara, which came out on Zee 5 on September 27th, is a movie that focuses on complicated relationships within a family. The main character, Sitara, is played by Sobhita Dhulipala. She is in an on-and-off relationship with Arjun, a chef played by Rajeev Siddhartha. Things take a turn when Sitara finds out she is pregnant, even though she has health issues that make pregnancy difficult. Instead of telling Arjun about it right away, she proposes marriage to him, but the situation is not as simple as it seems.
Sitara comes from a Malayalam family, while Arjun is from a Punjabi background. Their relationship is an interfaith, intercultural, and interstate one, which brings its own set of challenges. Arjunโs father doesnโt approve of his job as a chef, considering it a career fit for women. Meanwhile, Sitara, who has previously been in a live-in relationship without marriage, now wants a simple wedding at her grandmotherโs house, even though her father owns a chain of hotels.
As the story in Love Sitara progresses, Sitara and her family go to visit her grandmotherโs home. While there, Sitara stumbles upon a family secret. She finds out about her fatherโs affair with her aunt, Hema, played by Sonali Kulkarni. Hema is Sitaraโs mentor and a strong, independent woman who is secretly involved with a married man. Sitara is shocked by this discovery and tries to uncover more about the truth. She even sees her father leaving Hemaโs room, confirming her suspicions.
In the second half of Love Sitara, As Sitara struggles with her familyโs secrets, she confides in Arjun, who tells her not to overthink the situation. However, things get worse when Sitara falls and is taken to the doctor. This is when her family finds out about her pregnancy, and they are shocked and upset. But instead of focusing on Sitara, she reveals her fatherโs affair to her mother, forcing her family to face their own issues.
When Arjun finds out about the pregnancy, he is happy but also surprised. He then learns that Sitara was scared to tell him and had offered marriage out of her own fear, not love. To make things more complicated, Sitara isnโt even sure if Arjun is the father, as she had a one-night stand in London and doesnโt know the manโs name. This revelation causes the marriage to be called off, but Sitara decides to keep the baby. Though her family becomes more honest with each other, Sitara still wants Arjun to be her partner and the father of her child. In the end, she apologizes and proposes to him again, and they get married.
The story of Love Sitara is full of twists and turns, but it feels unrealistic in many ways. As the movie ends, you might feel confused and ask yourself, “What did I just watch?” While life can sometimes be this complicated, the way everything works out in the end feels too perfect to be believable. It seems like the story should have had a more complex or even sad ending instead of wrapping up so neatly.
Sobhita Dhulipala does a fantastic job in Love Sitara, delivering a strong and emotional performance. She brings the character to life and makes you feel for her struggles. However, Rajeev Siddharthaโs portrayal of Arjun doesnโt quite fit. He doesnโt come across as a convincing Punjabi man, and his character seems too perfectโa simple guy with no flawsโwhich makes it hard for viewers to connect with him emotionally.
The real star of the movie Love Sitara is Sonali Kulkarni, who plays Hema, Sitaraโs aunt. Even though she is a supporting character, she adds a lot of emotional depth to the story. Hema appears strong and ambitious on the outside but is secretly heartbroken and lonely. Her performance is the most powerful part of the movie and keeps you engaged.
Overall, Love Sitara is an average movie. The story is complicated but doesnโt hit the emotional notes it aims for. While Sobhita and Sonali deliver strong performances, the weak script and unrealistic ending make it hard to fully enjoy Love Sitara. If youโre really into movies about family and relationship drama, you might find it interesting, but itโs not a must-watch.

Shukrana had the potential to be a powerful movie with a strong message, but it unfortunately falls short. The story of Shukrana focuses on a widow, played by Neeru Bajwa, who faces pressure from society to marry her late husbandโs younger brother. Itโs a sensitive issue in Punjabi culture, but the film doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Neeru Bajwa shines in the film Shukrana, carrying most of the emotional weight. Her performance as a grieving widow is heartfelt and real. She portrays her characterโs pain and struggles with sincerity, making her the standout star of the movie. The emotional story kicks off after the death of her husband, played by Jass Bajwa, who does an okay job in his role but doesnโt quite leave a lasting impression.
