Karan Johar lessons fellow producers to stay united not not clash in tough times

Out of stress Karan Johar lessons his contenders from the industry.

Bollywood industry have reached a stage where stardom and showbiz world seems to be in a danger. As per the latest news the famous film producer Karan Johar reveals the same stress while he tries to guide and lesson his other fellow producers on unity while releasing their projects in competition.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director is awaiting his big project Yodha to release on 15 December 2023. He was the first one to lock the date for the launch. On 18th July 2023 the producers of another big film Merry Christmas made an announcement about the release date. And it clashed with Joghar’s Yodha.

For the unversed, Yodha is a thriller project with Siddharth Malhotra, Disha Patani and Rashi Khanna as the main leads in the flick. The makers locked 15 December targeting Christmas and New Year festivities to gain footfall at the ticket window. But now Merry Christmas as well is launching on the same date.

Hence they are as well targeting the same audience. And also the movie name as well refers to the festival of the launching time. Hence audience will be helpless and will get divided. There as the tough times for the industry. It is a rough phase of time where majority of the films are failing to recover their invested amount.

Moreover, the big names of the industry are carrying a safer approach and choosing OTT over theater launch. So, in these testing times two big projects with big money invested are launching on the same day. And one is meant to overshadow another as the history speaks. Also, the audience will get divided based on their interest, choices, mood, fanbase and topmost word of the mouth.

There is some footfall in the country who decides upon the movie after reaching theatres. Some decide on availability of seats and time slot. Hence, this sometimes count as a loss due to other competitions. Hence after the makers of Merry Christmas announces its released date.

The owner of Dharma productions, Karan Johar came up front on threads and slammed slammed them for clashing the date in his post.Tutoring his racersin the world of showbiz, he wrote,” clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers…… If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile…..”.

His post guiding his rivals on the game of money did not go well with the Indian audience. Where the makers Sriram raghavan and Ramesh taurani who are the co-producers of Merry Christmas are yet to respond on the statement. But many thread users are already questioning the My Name is Khan director for his own words.

In the past, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashed with Shivvay. And it affected his decades old friendship with kajol who was co producing it with her husband Ajay Devgn. Their fight was much publicized and received a lot of media attention. Even Simmba clashed with zero at the Box office as it launched after a week of Zero’s launch affecting footfall on the screens for Zero. But he was least bothered about all his rules and approach.

Moreover, Merry Chrismas was to launch near the end of the year to generate connection with the festivities of Christmas. If not this year then makers were going to shelf it for next Christmas. Karan Johar must be prepared and well informed about the fact. Finally, instead of asking others he can consider changes if he doubts this clash would generate him losses. But as an intelligent filmmaker he does not want to loose on the benefit he can get because of Holidays and celebrations. 

 This is not the only clash that is receiving media attention. Also, Gadar 2 is clashing with OMG2 and Animal. All the three will get released on 11 August 2023. And all the three projects are promising on their own. Gadar 2 and OMG 2 are the second chapters of hit films that turns to franchise with it. And Animal is an action thriller with ranbir Kapoor as the main lead.

After that two big projects Yodha and Merry Christmas are awaiting launch on the same day 15 December 2023 clashing on the screens in competition. In Merry Christmas Katrina Kaif and Vijay sethupathi are playing the main leads. The film will be launched in two languages simultaneously. And the makers have changed the supporting cast in the second language to attract audience. We wish both the team with good luck for their releases.
