Kangana Ranaut Sparks Controversy with Comments on Farmers’ Protests, BJP Leaders React

Kangana Ranaut, the Bollywood star and BJP MP from Mandi, has once again stirred up controversy with her latest remarks, about the farmers’ protests that rocked India in 2020. In a video she shared online, Kangana  claimed that if the Modi government hadn’t taken strict action, India could have faced a situation similar to the tragic events of the 1971 Bangladesh genocide. Her comments have drawn criticism, even from within her own party, the BJP.

Kangana’s Controversial Claims: A Foreign Conspiracy?

In her video, Kangana made some bold and alarming claims. She alleged that during the farmers’ protests against the three farm laws, there were incidents of violence, including deaths and rapes. According to her, these protests were part of a larger plot orchestrated by “foreign powers” to create chaos in India, and she hinted that some people in the film industry were involved in this conspiracy.

Kangana’s remarks didn’t go down well with everyone in the BJP. Harjit Grewal, a senior BJP leader from Punjab, quickly distanced the party from her statements. He advised her to be more careful with her words, especially when it comes to sensitive issues like farmers. Grewal pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have always supported farmers, and Kangana’s comments could harm their relationship with this crucial group. He made it clear that “talking about farmers isn’t Kangana’s area… such statements shouldn’t be made.”

This reaction highlights the tricky situation the BJP is in, especially with elections coming up in Haryana, a state where farming is a major issue. The party knows that alienating farmers could seriously hurt their chances at the polls.

This isn’t the first time Kangana has faced backlash for her comments about farmers. In 2020, she sparked outrage after wrongly identifying and insulting an elderly woman farmer from Punjab. The incident led to widespread criticism and strained her relationship with the farming community.

Kangana has also had other run-ins over her views on farmers. For example, shortly after being elected to Parliament, she reportedly got into a heated argument with a soldier at Chandigarh airport over her anti-farmer comments. The soldier was so upset that he allegedly slapped her, adding to the tension between Kangana and those opposed to her views on agricultural issues.

Kangana’s remarks come at a crucial time for the BJP, especially with elections approaching in Haryana. Given how important farming is in this region, any controversy could hurt the party’s chances of winning. Kangana’s comments might push farmers away from the BJP, which is something the party can’t afford right now.

This latest controversy shows how careful political figures, including celebrities like Kangana Ranaut have entered politics, need to be when speaking publicly. While Kangana’s outspokenness often grabs headlines, it may not always be in the BJP’s best interest, especially when elections are on the line.

As this situation unfolds, it will be interesting to see how Kangana’s political career is affected and whether the BJP takes further steps to manage the fallout. One thing’s for sure: Kangana’s journey from Bollywood to politics continues to be as dramatic as any of her movies.
