Kangana Ranaut Sparks Controversy Again, Calls for Return of Farm Laws
BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, has once again made headlines with a bold statement regarding the farm laws that were repealed in 2021 after huge protests. Kangana recently said that the three controversial farm laws should be brought back. What’s more, she urged the farmers themselves to ask for their return, even though she admitted her statement could be controversial.
Kangana said, “Farmers are a strong pillar of our country’s progress. I request them to appeal for these laws to be brought back.”
Her comments quickly drew criticism from the opposition, especially the Congress party, which voiced strong opposition. On the social media platform X, Congress said, “BJP MP Kangana Ranaut wants to bring back the black laws that harmed our farmers. More than 750 farmers sacrificed their lives during the protests before the Modi government finally listened. Now, BJP MPs want to revive these harmful laws.”
Kangana’s statement comes nearly three years after Prime Minister Narendra Modi withdrew the farm laws due to widespread protests. These protests were led mainly by farmers from Punjab and Haryana, who fought for their rights and demanded the laws be scrapped.
By bringing up the farm laws again, Kangana is stirring up a sensitive issue. While she claims she is standing for the empowerment of farmers, her critics believe this is an attempt to tarnish the image of Punjab and Sikh farmers, who played a key role in the protests.
Known for her outspoken views, Kangana’s words have once again sparked a heated political debate. Whether her statement will gain support or create more tension remains to be seen.
