Story of Kalki 2898 AD

The film opens with a grand depiction of the Kurukshetra war from the Mahabharata. In this narrative, Ashwatthama, portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, is cursed with immortality by Lord Krishna. Tasked with an eternal penance, he must protect the reincarnated form of God, Kalki, prophesied to appear 6000 years later.

Fast-forwarding to a dystopian future, we find ourselves in Kashi, where the inhabitants live in despair and yearn to escape to Complex, a utopian realm ruled by the enigmatic Yaskin, played by Kamal Haasan.

The story unfolds with Project K, a sinister initiative led by Yaskin that involves extracting a serum from pregnant women beyond 150 days of gestation. Sumati, a pregnant woman played by Deepika Padukone, manages to flee from this horrifying facility and finds refuge in Kashi.

Ashwatthama, believing Sumati to be carrying the awaited god, sees her as the key to his redemption. Meanwhile, Bhairava, a bounty hunter brought to life by Prabhas, is lured by the promise of a substantial reward—5 million units—to capture Sumati and return her to the Complex.

The film’s narrative intricately weaves together the destinies of these characters, spanning three distinct realms, including the mystical Shambala. The story is a gripping exploration of their intertwined fates and the broader implications of their actions.
