Bollywood actress Kajol talks about changes in the stories of films with time.
Kajol is one of the top most actresses from the Hindi cinema who have thoroughly enjoyed the top position since her debut in the industry of entertainment. She debuted at the very young age of just seventeen in Bekhudi alongside Kamal Sadanah and her mother Tanuja. But exactly opposite to her expectations the film badly failed at the box office.
Even after the failure of the narrative, Kajol’s work was well appreciated and gained positive reviews for the lady. The Bengali girl was then cast in the super hit crime thriller Baazigar opposite Shahrukh Khan which was not just her second film but also the fourth highest grosser of the year 1993. Interestingly it was the first collaboration between King Khan of Bollywood and Kajol opposite each other.
And it made the biggest pairing in the history of Bollywood cinema. Since then the Kal Ho Na Ho actress never looked back and kept delivering hit after hits. In her 31 years long career span, the majority of her hits are opposite Shahrukh Khan. But be it Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Fanaa or Ishq opposite her husband whatever film or role she takes in life she inhibits into the character and brings life to it.
She has thoroughly enjoyed screenwork even after marriage and kids. Apart from working in films she also hosted the reality show named Rock and Roll Family on Zee TV in the year 2008. In 2021 the U Me Aur Hum actress debuted on Netflix with Tribhanga. Now the Dilwale actress is awaiting another release on the same OTT named Last Stories 2.
While talking about her latest project the actress defined lust in the present era. First, the actress explained the word lust for old movies. She said in past times lust used to be two flowers coming together at one point on screen. She further elaborated stating that they used to be red roses like red flowers coming together on screen and that’s it. And the next news or part of the story was the actress was pregnant.
After a humorous laugh, she further said that it used to be the main way to present lust in old films. She further said that maybe we have evolved a next step further from that in the movies now. And then after that we made love stories and now lust stories are completely different. She further added that she truly believes that cinema reflects society.
Additionally, she said that where we are right now, is the era where movies are speaking in the language that is what love is defined by today.
Her words were,” As far as the eternal love stories are concerned I don’t think anybody generally believes in it. One thing is sure with today’s generation nobody is going to die for anyone. And this is for sure that nobody will bother to die. Rather they think of killing the other person. And then lovers believe we will meet in the next birth. Hence in today’s era, there is no belief in eternal love stories”.
Her definition of the lust stories is a true reflection of the circumstances in the society. It is actually hard to find true love and jumping from one to the next is quite normal and adopted among the young generation. Hence, the tales focus on lust-based stories to generate a correlation between the film and the audience.
They work on the logic that if not you then there will be somebody else. There are multiple soulmate beliefs nowadays. So I think that’s definitely there and therefore all the following love stories that are being made so far have been very very differently made. Rather they are based more on friendship, or other relationships may be society structure and all
Right now the we are family actress is busy promoting her upcoming narrative Lust Stories 2. After that, she has another release lined up named The Trail. With its launch, the Bekhudi actress will mark her other debut on a different OTT platform named Disney+ Hotstar.
The name of the series is The Trial and it will be released on 14th July 2023. Lust Stories is going to release on Netflix on 29th June 2023.
Kajol will be seen in the second chapter of this series. She is also working on another flake named Sarzameen. Apart from Kajol Prithviraj Sukumaran, Rajesh Sharma, and Tara Sharma as well are participating in the pivotal rules in the story. Interestingly Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan will mark his debut as an artist with this flick in the industry.
