Yesteryear fame Mumtaz Reflects on Changing Times in Bollywood, especially Highlights Improved Facilities for Female Artists
Veteran actress from the 70s Mumtaz expressed her happiness over the improved working conditions for female artists in Bollywood today. She also highlighted the positive changes, such as the provision of vanity vans and proper sanitation facilities on film sets. Which were lacking during her era. Mumtaz also shared insights into the dynamics between actresses of her time. She emphasized that some would refrain from interacting with those they considered ‘inferior.’
Recalling the challenges faced during the shoot of the song “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar” she revealed that there were no bathrooms for miles, prompting her to embark on a search for one with her hairdresser. She contrasted this with the present, where artists have access to air-conditioned rooms and improved facilities on set.
Expressing her contentment, Mumtaz stated, “I am happy that today girls have the facility to use the washroom, else it’s difficult for a woman to go miles and miles for certain things which are very important for them.”
In the recent past another actress from her era Asha Parekh, had shed light on the challenges yesteryear actors faced due to a lack of sanitation facilities in the past. Even the former actress Twinkle Khanna also once mentioned the challenges she faced while shooting films in the 90s.
But still, these strong women continued to work in the industry sidelining all the issues. Hats Off to them.
