Merry Christmas is a Bollywood entertainer with a blend of romance, suspense and a murder. Katrina Kaif and Vjay Sethupathi play the main leads as two straingers who happens to meet in a restaurant who the world around them is in festive mood.
Budget of Merry Christmas
The story line of the movie dates back to the times when Mumbai is called Bombay and the time is around new year. The story revolves mainly around one single night. Hence the time and surrounding investment was limited. But creating an aura of the back times must have been tough. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi as well pose a fair financial load. Altogether Merry Christmas was created within a budget of 50 to 60 crores.
Story Line
Albert (Vijay Sethupathi), mourning his mother’s death, encounters the enchanting Maria (Katrina Kaif) on Christmas Eve, setting the stage for a night of unforeseen twists. The chemistry between Katrina and Vijay adds depth to their characters, with Katrina’s nuanced portrayal standing out. Despite some sketchiness in emotional scenes, her restrained act maintains the desired mystery around her character.
The film’s climax, lasting 30 minutes, is nail-biting, with an experimental ending that sparks contemplation and discussion. The supporting cast, including Ashwini Kalsekar, Radhika Apte, Sanjay Kapoor, Vijay Pathak, and Tinnu Anand, contributes significantly to the project. “Merry Christmas” delivers a compelling mix of suspense, emotion, and storytelling finesse, leaving audiences eager for post-viewing discussions.
Review
Merry Christmas is a thriller suspense drama and meant for audience who like Andhadhun and Ek Haseena Thi. It goes bit slow in between but Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi successfully engage audience with their standout performances. Chemistry between the both is surprising. For Katrina definitely her experience in the cinematics is proved with this stellar performance. She successfully generates an aura of doubts that you keep guessing with Albert.
Renowned filmmaker Sriram Raghavan weaves another captivating narrative in “Merry Christmas,” a tale of a charming woman confronted by a stranger, now a mother harbouring a mysterious secret. Supporting cast, including Ashwini Kalsekar, Radhika Apte, Sanjay Kapoor, Vijay Pathak, and Tinnu Anand, contributes significantly to the project.
In the end Merry Christmas delivers a compelling mix of suspense, emotion, and storytelling finesse. We give 3.5 star ratings with a strong recommendation to watch this entertainer.
