In a recent interview with a prominent news agency, the maker of ‘Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya’ Dharmesh Darshan created a buzz in the Bollywood News as he expressed regrets about the making of the project. His statement includes,  “It’s not a film that I should have done. It’s one of those films that directors hand over to their assistants. It was the first and last time Abhishek and Karisma did a film together. Abhishek is a very sweet guy, but it wasn’t the same Lolo I’d seen during Raja Hindustani.”

Revealing intimate details about the personal lives of the lead actors. He went on to comment about Abhishek and Karisma’s dynamics off-screen. He candidly disclosed that their engagement fell apart during the filming of the movie, stating, “Karishma was distracted, naturally, with the marriage thing. It is shown in the film. I’m not a psychiatrist. I can’t interfere in their relationship. And I was hearing both sides. I’ll be honest with you. And I’m watching also.”

When questioned, Dharmesh ji also acknowledged that Amitabh Bachchan did not have a favourable opinion of the movie. He deemed it as an ‘old-fashioned film.’ However, he expressed surprise when Jaya Ji, to his amazement, expressed appreciation for it. She particularly lauded the assertiveness of the female character who boldly declares having a one-night stand and proceeds to initiate a divorce.

When Abhishek and Karishma got engaged

In 2002, Jaya Bachchan proudly announced the engagement of Abhishek Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor. It happened during a press conference held on the occasion of Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday. Subsequently, Dharmesh cast them in the controversial love story ‘Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya Hai’. Following the film’s lack of success, rumours surrounding the couple began to circulate in Bollywood news headlines. As time passed, it became evident that they had indeed separated. And then Karishma Kapoor went on to marry Sanjay Kapur. Currently, Karishma Kapoor is divorced from her husband Sanjay Kapur. While Abhishek Bachchan enjoys a happy marriage with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

In a previous interview, Dharmesh’s brother, Suneel Darshan, also commented on Abhishek and Karisma’s dynamic on set, questioning if they were truly ‘meant for each other’. He remarked, ‘They were not really the made-for-each-other kinds. There was constant bickering… Maybe that’s how some people are ‘made’. I always wondered, are they really the made-for-each-other kind of pair? Abhishek is a sweet fellow, and Lolo is a very nice person, but maybe some things aren’t destined.”

Both actors have moved on with their lives separately. They are focusing on their respective journeys without intersecting. Hence, there was no necessity for generating such B-town news. However, it’s a known fact that this is the price they pay as artists, even after experiencing opulent and luxurious lifestyles.
