Ekta Kapoor shared Cryptic Post amid Ram Kapoor’s ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ Comments
Television queen Ekta Kapoor recently stirred the internet with a cryptic note shared on her social media. In her post, Ekta Kapoor expressed her disappointment with “unprofessional actors” who, according to her, are spreading “false information and twisted stories” about her shows. She hinted at maintaining silence for now but suggested that her patience might not last long, adding, “There is dignity in silence.”
While she didn’t take any names, fans and industry insiders believe her post was directed at actor Ram Kapoor. Ram recently opened up about his experience filming one of Indian television’s most talked-about scenes—a kiss with co-star Sakshi Tanwar in the popular show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH).
In a candid interview, Ram Kapoor revealed that he was initially reluctant to perform the scene. He explained that the concept of such an intimate moment was unheard of on Indian television at the time, and he was worried about the potential backlash. Ram recalled saying to Ekta Kapoor, “Are you sure? This has never happened on TV before. Three generations watch this show together.” Despite his concerns, Ekta insisted on going ahead with the scene, confident it would add depth to the story.
Ram further shared that before agreeing, he sought approval from his wife, as he felt it was necessary to keep her in the loop. He also spoke to Sakshi, assuring her that he would handle any issues with Ekta Kapoor if she felt uncomfortable about the scene.
The kiss aired in 2012 and created a buzz, becoming a milestone in Indian television history. While it was applauded by some as bold and modern, it also drew criticism from conservative viewers. The scene led to a dip in the show’s ratings, as families who watched the show together found it inappropriate. Years later, even Ekta admitted that including the scene was a “mistake,” acknowledging that the sensibilities of TV audiences differ greatly from those of digital platform viewers.
The timing of Ekta Kapoor’s cryptic post, shortly after Ram Kapoor’s interview went viral, has left many convinced that her message was a response to his comments. However, Ekta Kapoor has not clarified whether her post was directed at Ram or if it was addressing a completely different issue.
This incident has reignited discussions about boundaries in Indian television and how producers, actors, and audiences navigate bold storytelling in a largely conservative landscape. While the truth behind Ekta Kapoor’s post remains a mystery, it has certainly added fuel to the ongoing debate.
