Renowned producer Ekta Kapoor achieved a groundbreaking milestone on Monday, November 20, by securing the esteemed Directorate Award at the 51st International Film Awards. Also,this remarkable feat positioned her as the inaugural Indian female filmmaker to be honoured with the prestigious International Emmy Directorate Award.
Kapoor’s triumph not only signifies her personal success but also highlights her profound impact on the industry. Further, her win underscores the recognition of her trailblazing and unconventional contributions, consistently delivering content that deeply resonates with diverse audiences over decades.
In response to this historic accomplishment, the producer expressed her gratitude, stating, “Receiving the prestigious Emmys Directorate Award fills me with delight! Ekta Kapoor, daughter of actor Jeetendra Kapoor and media executive Shobha Kapoor, founded Balaji in 1994, revolutionizing India’s television landscape. Her production house, Balaji, boasts over 17,000 hours of television content and 45 films, shaping an entire genre of television programming and contributing significantly to India’s satellite television boom.
Under her banner, Kapoor has produced iconic TV shows like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,’ ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii,’ ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay,’ ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,’ and many others, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.
In addition to Kapoor’s historic win, Vir Das, along with Derry Girls season 3, received recognition at the International Emmy Awards. Das, a comedian and actor, clinched the International Emmy for Comedy, marking his second nomination for this prestigious award.
