Bollywood actress Daisy Shah Reflects on Unfair Criticism Following ‘Jai Ho’s’ Performance Her words were: ‘People were saying why don’t you die…’
In a recent interview, Daisy Shah revealed that she faced severe trolling following the release of Jai Ho. The actor expressed how she received an abundance of negativity due to the film’s performance. And it also significantly impacted her at that time.
Disclosing the scenario, Daisy Shah candidly shared, “People had this assumption that the film would do wonders and it didn’t. I was trolled to the level where people said that the film had gotten this review only because of Daisy. I remember Salman sir sitting there and telling me, ‘Daisy, why are you getting affected?’ And I was like, ‘What is my fault? What have I done?’”
Daisy Shah Statement
She further explained to the interviewer that she was just one of the pillars of the movie. But he (Salman Khan) was the entire house. But the trolls she faced due to the failure of the flick compared to Ek Tha Tiger. It was a major and most recent hit by the lead actor. Hence people started to curse her. She mentioned listening to words like, “tu marr kyu nahi jaati? Ab isse bada kya hi ho sakta hai? (Why don’t you die? What can be bigger than that?)”
Daisy Shah continued to assert that Jai Ho was produced on a budget of 60 crores, yet it garnered nearly 200 crores at the box office. This, in her opinion, proves that the film was not a failure but a lucrative venture for the creators.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Daisy Shah had relatively limited screen time in Jai Ho, primarily as Salman Khan’s romantic interest. Tabu, on the other hand, held a more substantial role as an elder sister to Jai. Pinning the failure solely on one artist, particularly when the success was not entirely within her control, is unfair.
