Deepika revealed her approach to relationships following previous bitter experiences. She also acknowledged that she and Ranveer maintained an open, non-committal relationship initially. Shockingly for some, she admitted to simultaneously dating multiple individuals—three or four, to be precise—while maintaining an emotional commitment to Ranveer Singh.

The episode stirred controversy after airing on OTT platforms, triggering criticism and a slew of memes targeting Deepika’s revelations. Despite the uproar, the couple remained unfazed by the public’s reaction, choosing not to respond.

The show’s host, Karan Johar, eventually stepped in. He released a statement in support of his friends Deepika and Ranveer. which helped quell the talks over time.

However, the issue resurfaced on social media recently when former Bollywood actress turned-writer Twinkle Khanna voiced her support for Deepika. In her column, Twinkle defended Deepika’s stance, drawing attention to the significance of making informed choices in relationships. She paralleled Deepika’s approach to safeguarding oneself from potentially toxic relationships to the need for legislative recognition of same-sex marriages. Statement of Twinkle

Her Statement said, ” While we wait for the day when legislators stop barking up the wrong tree and legalise same-sex marriages, I suppose Deepika’s idea of making an informed choice may save a lot of women from marrying dogs, and more commonly, frogs in princely robes.” 

Deepika’s clarification about her relationship philosophy, born out of past painful experiences, aimed at adopting a more pragmatic approach to relationships. Although her candidness initially attracted negative attention, the intent behind her openness was to potentially help others facing similar struggles. Twinkle’s support adds weight to the argument that Deepika’s message might resonate better with the Indian audience when contextualized as a means of empowering women to make informed choices in relationships.

In essence, while Deepika’s revelations sparked controversy, her motive remains rooted in potentially aiding others in navigating the complexities of relationships.
