Bollywood and its stories influence patriotism and connect us with the Independence Day of India
The Independence Day of India is a major subject in the world of entertainment. Since started many entertainers both fictional and reality-based have contributed to the sensitive emotions of patriotism among the public. Be it a movie like Border that depicts the realities of fighters who die anonymously protecting us or Sardar Udham Singh that portray the major contributions of the legends in the freedom of the country.
There are some fictional dramas that received immense love from the audience and had a lot to say about those working undercover for the country. Shehshah and Raazi are among them winning hearts while generating a sentiment of nationalism among the youth.
Independence dates back to 1920 when the awakening of freedom started among the public. Martyrs like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were sentenced to be hanged till death to stop this spread of consciousness. In 1965 first movie was made on the biography of the young martyr of the nation. after that, the story was retold by different filmmakers.
Then Lagaan, Rang De Basanti and Mangal Panday: The Rising are the three fictional movies that connect well with the audience on patriotic grounds. All three ends generate conscious love and respect for the nation and freedom fighters. Further movies like LOC Kargil and Border generate awareness of the border officials who stand there to make the rest live in peace.
Bollywood and the entertainment world are the ways to introduce us to history. No doubt the matter is available in books hanging in many national libraries. But the majority of the public gets aware through visual experience. And cinema plays a major role in that. When a film is based on how the fights to achieve freedom win over the ticket window. They are not just a success of the project. They somehow declare a nationalism wave in the country.
Hence every time narrative is made on national security and safety it gets a footfall. and patriotism is not only limited to the Independence of the country. Other issues like national unity against malpractices, the fight for rights, and other regional freedom fighters from fights before and after independence connect well with the emotional feel of the viewers.
Further, completely fictional stories like Baby, Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty, Madras Cafe, Naam Shabana, Pathaan and Tiger Series as well bring another side of the same feelings towards the nation. They mainly focus on the fight of RAW agents who secretly protects the country keeping a closed eye on outside invaders and their plans.
Recently launched film IB71 as well brings the chapter of attack that was planned by Pakistan and Indian officials planned a counter mission to avoid the war situation and a separate country named Bangladesh was formed. Many movies show India and Pakistan as rivals. Where Pakistan wants to win over India through illicit activities like terrorism and sleeping cells.
Every Year, India celebrates Independence Day on 15 August. All schools and colleges celebrate it by paying respect to the freedom fighters. National TV and all channels show patriotic movies and pay tribute to the legends of the war. Every Indian living inside or outside India feels the existence of feelings for the nation this day.
Every Year Flag of India is hoisted in all regions after 9 A.M. with full respect and dignity. Most celebrities congratulate the country and their followers on the celebrations through social media. On 15 August 2023, India marks the celebration of its 77th year of independence.
Considering the emotional sentiments of the audience Gadar The Katha Continues and OMG 2 have been released worldwide. Gadar 2 is the sequel to Gadar Ek Prem Katha. Also, it is a love story with the involvement of two nations. In 2001 Sunny Deol won everybody with his intense one-man fight against the nation for his love. He could have easily accepted Pakistan and lived happily with his wife there. But he couldn’t accept bad for his own country and announced war against them.
Hence the second chapter of the franchise fits well with the release around Independence Day. Even in the second part, Tara Singh will fight to bring his daughter-in-law back home. On the other hand, OMG 2 concentrates on national issues related to teenagers. Again, it is a franchise of the superhit movie OMG from 2012. It focuses on the existence of God and his support while we fight for our rights.
Both movies are running fairly at the Box Office. But the footfall for Gadar 2 is almost twice compared to OMG2. Moreover, Sunny Deol’s movie has already covered the budget and entered the profit zone. Whereas Akshay Kumar’s Film is trying to chase that big budget that was invested yet.
In the end, We wish our Readers a Happy Independence Day and hope that we all enjoy and celebrate the day keeping full respect and dignity towards our National Flag.
