Ridhi Dogra declares this entertainment industry just another business and money-oriented field instead of supporting creative works
Ridhi Dogra is not only a known face of the TV industry of India. Rather she is one among the few who have managed to switch from TV to Bollywood mainstream in a very lauded way. She also debuted on OTT. And now she is on high swings as she’s expecting her Bollywood release, Jawan. It is a Shahrukh Khan movie getting released this Diwali.
As per the reports, Richa will portray a supporting character in the RAW team. She was recently asked to comment on the struggle of her career path. In her answer, she expressed her views on the core ground working of the industry. According to Laagi Tujse Lagan actress money is the main goal in the whole working of the industry. Instead as assumed by the artist who believes that it is a world of creatives. It is not.
She even went on to say that while starting she was treated with the tag of a Television actress. People didn’t welcome her considering she belonged to TV only. Replying to the same Yeh Hai Aashiqui actress said that she had to struggle and feel sorry for people who are stuck with this label. According to her, an artist must get equal acceptance and should not be labelled.
When asked she also told that she had to face a lot of challenges to grab the opportunities. The Diya Aur Baati Hum actress further also added that working in front of the camera is not a big challenge rather reaching in front of the camera is a tough task. She also mentioned that if one wants to act then they have to be a marketing person too.
When the host asked her to explain more about her struggles and how she made her way from TV to Bollywood. In reply, she explained more about her journey stating that options were not available in her hand. She had to chain them. Further, she had to break the tag and approach people to find work in mainstream Bollywood films.
For Those unaware, Richa Dogra debuted with a daily soap named Savitri in 2007. And she continued to work on the small screen for 14 years. In 2022 she debuted on OTT with a series named TVF Pitchers. In her career span of 14 years, her character named Nisha gave her the biggest positive critics and fame. The audience still refers her to as Nisha Jinder from Woh Apna Sa. This daily soap aired on Zee TV from 2017 to 2018.
Recently this year she main a Bollywood debut as the main lead opposite Anshuman Jha in Lakadbaggha. It was an average film with mixed reviews from the critics. But Nisha of Woh Apna Sa managed to grab a good deal on Jawan. Now the actress is awaiting Shahrukh Khan’s Jawan as a supporting cast.
As per the Bollywood news Nayanthara, a south actress has been roped in to play the female lead opposite King Khan. hence, Richa should be an undercover cop in the team of RAW or just among the antagonists. Moreover, she will reprise her character in Tiger 3 as well. Hence it has something to do with the uncovered agents who got saved at the end of the mission and will continue the drama Tiger again.
Even after locking good roles and participating in big projects, Qayamat Ki Raat actress still speaks negatively about the industry. Either she had to go through a tough phase to get in front of the mainstream camera. Or she is just being honest? Maybe she wants to gain fame before Jawan gets premiered. The real reason is best known to the actress herself.
It is not the first time the artists of the industry have slammed bad practices and cultures in the industry. And they are always outsiders who feel cornered or not welcomed. Many even pointed out that this industry is a platform for the creative but not a personal property that seniors want to gift the next generation as something inherited.
Even some of the star kids agree to the fact that they get privileged services compared to outsiders. They know whom to ask for auditions and work. They know the right people. hence they are not lost in the limelight and at least get a chance to prove themselves.
And Richa Dogra also pointed out that this world is based on the business point of view and not a creativity-based platform for the artists. Investors had always and will continue to work for their profits only. For them, artists are just sources of income and they will only hire someone to generate revenue. But artists do get a chance and some have made a fortune for them starting from scratch. The biggest example of success is Shahrukh Khan with whom the Television artist is already sharing a screen in Jawan.
Hence we do not completely agree with the Television turned Bollywood actress with her views.
