Will Akshay Kumar comeback OMG2 survive to succeed

After a series of flops with the worst year of his career phase will OMG2 starring Akshay Kumar win over the ticket window?

since his debut, Akshay Kumar was known as one of the safest actors with continuous hits and wins over the silver screen till 2022. but, last year the actor faced continuous failure for all of his projects that badly tanked at the Box Office. At the start of his career, after a few modeling assignments, the film star debuted in 1991 as a lead artist in a Hindi flick named Saugandh. Further, the action hero also acted in his first Khiladi film in the year 1992.

Since then the star gave continuous hits to the industry full of action, drama, and comedy. Moreover, Akshay Kumar is also known to deliver at least 4 to 5 projects every year. And most of them always generated profits in the end. But last year, he faced his first commercial flop of the year, Bachchan Pandey in the third month. And after that, the downfall seemed unstoppable. Bachchan Panday was an action-based comedy made on a heavy budget of almost 165 crores. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, and Jacqueline Fernandes portrayed important roles. the narrative was released on 18 March 2022.

But the venture failed at the Box office collecting just 73 crores in its screening lifetime. Also, the flick generated almost 55 % losses to the makers. Many co-related it with Covid stating that the audience is not confident enough to visit theatres. Moreover, back to work was not smooth for the world. hence, many considered the viewers prioritizing work over entertainment and luxury.

After almost two and a half months the makers of Prithviraj Samrat released their project on 3 June 2022. It was a very expensive historical drama made on a budget of around 300 crores. It was a biopic made on Prithviraj Chauhan. After being a promising project and with producers like Yash Raj Films, the venture failed to attract footfall in theatres and collected a mere 90 crores worldwide. Hence the makers ended up with around 70 percent losses from this making. The star himself must be taken aback by this strong narrative failing to gather attention.

Post failure of this historical drama, the cheapest flick of the star named Raksha Bandhan was released on 11 August targeting festivities and independence day in India. But even after based on the festival of the moment, it failed to get footfall. It collected 61 crores in its run time and made losses of around 9 crores for the makers.

After that the producer of his next movie, Cutputli decided to play safer and sold their project to Disney+ Hotstar. That project as well incurred a cost of 150 crores to the makers. But their deal with OTT was never revealed. Hence, we believe that the investors at least recovered their invested amount in the deal.

The next big project of the actor named Ram Setu as well badly tanked at the ticket window declaring it a disturbed year for the actor’s career. It was a good movie with a story, cast, direction, twist almost everything. And most importantly, it was something different compared to his past stories. But again, the audience could not find it as attractive to generate positive word of mouth. And a flick made on a 150 crore budget collected around 93 crores generating 40 percent losses for the makers.

2022 turned out to be the worst year of his career graph and the actor had new hopes with the new year. This year actor’s first movie was released on 24 February 2023. Moreover, Akshay Kumar appealed to the audience at the start of the film. Even after that the project badly tanked at that ticket window. After the failure of his latest project, he is making a comeback after 6 months with OMG2. It is the second film of the superhit OMG that turns into a franchise with OMG2. As per the reports, the star will portray the role of lord Shiva in the story.

The star is in true need of the blessings of lord Shiva at this stage of his career. With the series of flops Akshay Kumar’s careers seem to be sinking and if this flick will flop in the ticket window it will put an ending sign on 30 years of the acting career of the Khiladi of Bollywood. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi plays important roles in the story with a social message. Amit Rai is the director and writer of the story. It will definitely focus on the wrong practices to approach god. But the main story of the narrative is kept under wraps for now.
