Vivek Oberoi Opens Up About Regretting His Past and Learning to Be Authentic
Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi recently spoke about how he regrets some of his past actions, admitting that they came from a place of immaturity. In a recent interview with India TV, the actor reflected on his personal growth and how time has helped him gain a better understanding of life and the importance of being true to oneself. His words reveal a more thoughtful and mature side as he looks back on some of the biggest missteps of his career.
One such incident that Vivek has had to live with is related to his relationship with Aishwarya Rai. Back in the early 2000s, Vivek was dating Aishwarya, who had previously been in a high-profile relationship with Salman Khan. However, their romance took a dramatic turn when Vivek, in a shocking move, called for a press conference and publicly accused Salman Khan of threatening him over his relationship with Aishwarya. At the time, Vivek believed he was standing up for his then-girlfriend, but his decision to go public backfired. The press meet ended up being a career-ending moment, as much of the Bollywood industry turned its back on him, considering the act immature and impulsive.
Many times Vivek Oberoi apologised to Salman Khan on public platforms and award functions but Salman Khan never accepted it.
Looking back, Vivek admitted that his comments and actions at the time were poorly thought out. โNow that Iโm older, I see things from a more mature perspective,โ he shared. This marks a shift from the actor who once made bold, controversial moves to someone who now values wisdom and personal growth.
During the interview, Vivek also hinted at certain individuals in Bollywood who choose to live inauthentic lives, saying, โThey know who they are, and you know it too.โ Without naming names, he hinted at the constant choice between being โrealโ or adopting a โplasticโ persona to fit into the industryโs expectations.
Vivek explained that some people act fake out of fear of judgment, saying, โSome believe they need to network and please others, even if it means pretending.โ He talked about the immense pressure many face in Bollywood to fit in and be accepted, even at the cost of losing their true self. However, for Vivek, the turning point came when he realized that trying to please everyone is โa waste of time.โ He shared how choosing to be authentic has brought him peace and happiness, allowing him to live a more fulfilling life.
Vivekโs honesty about both his personal and professional struggles shows just how far he has come. His career, which once showed great promise, took a serious hit after the infamous press meet. Yet, through his personal growth, Vivek has embraced the lessons heโs learned. His story is a powerful reminder that, no matter the pressures of fame, being true to oneself is the key to finding real happiness and contentment.
